Rev. Aloysius Fondong Abangalo, Bishop of Mamfe Diocese

Rev. Aloysius Fondong Abangalo has been appointed new Bishop of the Mamfe Diocese today February 22, by The Holy Father Francis. This comes barely few hours after the Archbishop of Bamenda and Apostolic Administrator of Mamfe, Rev. Andrew Fuanya NKEA makes a public announcement calling on Priests, Religious Men and Women and All Christ's Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Mamfe to assemble at the St. Joseph's Cathedral Mamfe today, February 22. It is worth noting that, the said Diocese has been without Bishop since December 2019, and has had as interim the current Archbishop of Bamenda who doubles as former Bishop of Mamfe. CPS Engages Partner Organizations In Using Radio Drama For Promotion of Peace

Workshop Participants And CPS Coordinators As part of measures to spread peace through communication, the Civil Peace Service of Bread for the World organized a 5- day workshop on radio drama production on the theme "Radio Drama: A Veritable Tool for the Promotion of Peace".The workshop which was held at the PCC Synod office in Buea brought together 17 CPS partner organizations from all over the country. Opening the training workshop, the representative of the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, the National Peace Coordinator, Rev. Nta William Nche disclosed that the workshop is coming at a time when all avenues have to be exploited to preach peace, and radio drama is one of them. Bamenda Based Journalists Drilled On Media For Peace and Justice

Training session Some journalists of all media landscape in Bamenda have come to the end of a two - day training on the theme "Catalyzing Media for Peace and Justice in Cameroon, " Friday July 30 to Saturday 31. Resource persons of the training were Ngala Desmond, Country Manager DefyHateNow Cameroon, Blaise Abong, diplomat and programs manager at AKPC and Eugene Nforngwa, development policy and communication analyst, Director Rainforest Center for Policy Research. The training saw some 25 media personnel from broadcast and print drilled on conflict management, fake news, hate speech, media advocacy and conflict-sensitive reporting. Photo credit: CKA Attendees of the workshop As part of measures to curb the spread of violence in Cameroon’s North West region, the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) Peace Work Office organized a one-day workshop on Nonviolence for 21 selected youth from the North West on Wednesday June 23, 2021 in Bafoussam. The workshop is an activity of the Peace Education and Nonviolence in Schools and Communities Project of the PCC Peace Work Office. The project spans January to December 2021 and has support from the German government’s Civil Peace Service (CPS) project Cameroon. It seeks to engage students develop a culture of peace in schools and youth to develop nonviolent attitudes in communities.                          Professor Enoh Tanjong, born in 1955 in Fotabe, a village in Manyu division, South West region of Cameroon grew up in his native village where he attended primary education. In 1967, he moved over to pursue secondary education at Saint Joseph’s College Sasse under the supervision of his elder brother. He was a mass communications expert with BSc (Hons) Mass Communications, University of Lagos (1979), M.A Journalism University of Winconsin-Madison (1983) and PhD Mass Communications, Winconsin-Madison(1986). Following his employment in the Ministry of Information and Culture, Tanjong designed the undergraduate Journalism and Mass Communication program in the University of Buea in 1993. He is often regarded as “the pope”. This name came about because he is the architect behind the creation of JMC as well as the pioneer head of department if the department.
